James Roday (b. 1976) plays the character Shawn Spencer on the series Psych. He's also a writer and director of the series.

Roday is an American actor who has also appeared in episodes of Ryan Caulfield: Year One and Miss Match, and an episode of Fear Itself (with actress Maggie Lawson), and also the movies Coming Soon, Repli-Kate, Rolling Kansas, Don't Come Knocking, The Dukes of Hazzard (directed by Jay Chandrasekhar), and Gamer (with actress Maggie Lawson). He also wrote the movie Skinwalkers (along with writer Todd Harthan).

He is currently dating Maggie Lawson, co-star of Psych.
