• Throughout the episode there are references to everyone only remembering the main superhero's nipple-ridden costume. This is a shot at the movie Batman and Robin with George Clooney and Chris O'Donnell.

• Shawn: For the love of Scotty. (said while trying to convince somebody they were assistants of George Takei)

Scotty (Montgomery Scott) is as a character from Star Trek (the original series). The character was played by James Doohan.

• Shawn: Where is he, chocolate Columbo?

Columbo is a crime television series. The series aired regularly from 1971 to 1978, and later, sporadically from 1989 to 2003.

• Talia, Malone and Dent, who are all integral characters to the plot of this episode, are all names in the Batman series- Talia Al Ghul, Matches Malone, and Harvey Dent, respectively.
